Annabandana began in 2009 when my mum Anne underwent Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy, which resulted in the inevitable hairloss and upset that it brings, mum tried a wig which she could not get on with so set about a search for suitable headwear to no avail, everything was either too expensive, not very nice or totally impractical for everday wear.
This is where I came in, I was working for a company that sold pretty embroidered cotton bed linen where sometimes we were allowed to purchase slight seconds cheaply and as I had collected quite a stockpile I set about making something for mum to wear, mum loved these and during hospital appointments received compliments on her scarves and someone suggested that I should sell these on a well known auction website as there was a need for items like this.
I did this quite succesfully and then found out that after 18 years in my job I was being made redundant after the collapse of the company, it was then that a good friend offered to make me a website to carry on with what had become a labour of love making headscarves for ladies in need.
The business has grown and grown and Rob my partner decided to join me in my venture to keep up with demand and help me manage the day to day running also doing some sewing. In 2012 we decided to upsticks and follow our dream to move to Devon which is where we met Sue who following a back injury was unable to carry on with her previous work as a gardener. Sue decided to join out little team doing lots of sewing allowing us to keep growing and make lots more scarves.
So this is us, we are always looking for new ideas and welcome any suggestions so feel free to get in touch.
